The next Cartooning Club will be June 8th at 6:00 PM.

We will soon have the capability of providing our patrons with WIFI access and downloadable audio books from the New Hampshire State Library. The projected launch date for the audios is June 1st.

Unemployment Resources

The library has the resources to help unemployed people. People may sign up for unemployment benefits from the Library’s public access computers. They may also file their mandatory continued claim forms from the library. Please feel free to contact the library at 755-2944 for more information.

Evacuation Planning

The Town of Farmington is making a list of residents with special needs to be taken into account ahead of time in case of emergency. Special needs include: limited mobility, deafness or hard of hearing, medically or chemically dependent, on oxygen, blind or visually impaired, homebound, emotionally impaired, and homeless. If you or a family member or a friend that has a special need, get in touch with Charles Williams, Project Manager at (603) 755-2131 or email: farmingtonemergencymanagement@gmail.com or mail to: 381 Main St., Farmington, NH 03835. After contacting us, a member of the team will make an appointment to determine how best we can respond to your needs. All information will be strictly used only for our emergency planning and efforts.

Museum Passes

We now have passes for the Currier Museum in Manchester, the Children’s Museum in Dover, The NH Farm Museum in Milton, the NH Historical Society in Concord, and the Tuck Museum in Hampton. These are going to be popular so be sure to reserve ahead for specific dates.

Goodwin Library Photo Enthusiast’s Workshop

There will be no meeting in May. The group will attend the Renaissance Faire in Kingston, NH. June’s meeting will be Saturday, June 27th.

Teen Advisory Meeting

The Teen Advisory Group will meet Tuesday, May 12 from 3:00-4:00 PM. Kick-off for the Teen Summer Reading Program is June 30, 2009 at 3:00 PM. All teens are welcome to join us and share ideas for library services and programs that YOU want in your library.

Adult Poets and Writer’s Group

If you are a writer living in or out of town, and want to share your writing with a friendly group in a criticism-free zone, pack up your latest stories, poem, and essays and bring them down and join us. Our next meeting is May 4, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Adult Book Club

The Book Club will meet May 11 at 6:00 PM. We will be discussing Intruder in the Dust by William Faulkner. If you like to read good books and want to share your thoughts about them with good company, come join us.

Parents of Gifted

If you’d like to learn more on how to advocate for your child and listen to interesting speakers the next meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 13 at 6:00 PM. Please be sure to provide child care for your children.

7th Annual Poetry Competition Results

We had 56 poems entered this year, with 28 teens, 12 children, and 16 adult entries. The winners were:
