Historical Society Museum

The Historical Society Museum will now be open the 2nd Saturday of the month. This month it will be open April 11 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. On Friday, April 3 at 7:00 PM, don’t miss the Historical Society’s program on the history of Beer Making in NH.

All Young Adults are welcome to join us and share ideas for library services and programs that YOU want in your library. Our next meeting will be April 14th from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

April 19-25 School Vacation Week/ National Turn Off the TV Week!

On Monday, April 20th – Come do a Make & Take Craft with us from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Wednesday, April 22nd is Pajama Day!!! Hang out in your most comfortable (and acceptable, please) pajamas at the library and play games with us!!!

On Friday, April 24th – Come do another Make & Take Craft from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Adult Poets and Writer’s Group

If you are writer living in or out of town, and want to share your writing with a friendly group in a criticism-free zone, pack up your latest stories, poems and essays, and bring them down and join us. Our next meeting is Monday, April 6th, from 6:00 PM till 7:30 PM.

Adult Book Club

The Book Club will meet April 20th at 6:00 PM. We will be discussing Lamb by Christopher Moore. The next title will be Intruder in the Dust by William Faulkner. If you like to read good books and want to share your thoughts about them with good company, come join us.

Parents of Gifted Children’s Workshop

The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 15th at 6:00 PM. If you’d like to learn more on how to advocate for your child, listen to interesting speakers on the subject, then join us. This is an adult group. Please be sure to provide child care for your children.

Author Julia Spencer-Fleming coming here!

Mystery fans mark your calendar for Wednesday, May 6th at 6:00 PM. If you haven’t read her wonderfully addictive series, check them out now and get started with In the Bleak Midwinter. Julia Spencer-Fleming has won many awards for her work. She is very entertaining and has a lot of interesting insights to offer aspiring writers.

Science Fiction Author Jeremy Robinson

Acclaimed sci-fi author Jeremy Robinson will be the Guest Speaker at the Friend’s of the Goodwin Library Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 22 at 6:00 PM. Come meet Mr. Robinson, and hear about his struggles to get published, creative ways he developed to market his work and how he landed a big budget movie deal for Antarktos Rising, which will be released in 2010. Don’t forget that we have Jeremy’s titles available at the library.

Absent Willow Review Publishing Workshop

Wednesday, April 8, at 6:00 PM, we are delighted to present Rochester based publishers Rick DeCost & Bob Griffin of Absent Willow Review a publishing house that specializes in horror and sci-fi. Come learn specifics of what it takes to have your work published, how to submit it, what publishers are looking for, and hear examples of successful published work.

Jack Mountain Bushcraft Sustainability Program

On Wednesday, April 1, at 6:00 PM we are excited to present Tim Smith of Jack Mtn. Bushcraft, a Wolfeboro, NH based wilderness, survival, sustainability, and homestead training facility. Tim will be presenting a program on preparedness and sustainability and using simple low-tech techniques to recession-proof your home and family. You won’t want to miss this informative event.

Goodwin Library Photo Enthusiast’s Workshop

Do you love to take digital photos? Want to get together and share your love of photography with other photo fans and come up with fun projects and new ideas. Join this new workshop on Saturday, March 28, from 11:30 to 1:00 PM and get inspired!

7th Annual Poetry Competition

There are 3 categories to enter: Children: age 6-12, Teen: age 13-18, Adult 19 and up. Each poet may enter up to 5 poems. You can stop by the library for the entry form or you can go online and download the forms. The deadline for entries will be Friday, April 10, by 5:00 PM closing. Our Poetry Night and Awards Ceremony will be Wednesday, April 29th at 6:00 PM.

Closings

The library is closing early today due to the weather. We will also be closing early on Wednesday (5 pm) for the town meeting. We are excited about Story Times starting up this week. Make sure to bring your kids!!!!

Some Library News

We now have games in the children's room that are available for playing. Come in and play games like Monopoly, Chess, Checkers, Backgammon, Scrabble, and more!!

Also we are having our Teen Advisory Meeting on Monday the 9th at 3 pm. Come in and share your thoughts with us. There will be food!

And last, we are closing the library early on the 11th for the town meeting. The library will be closing at 5 that day.
